Panda and Penguin - Heroes or Villains?

The SEO world has been turned up-side-down ever since Google implemented these updates. Google's primary purpose for these algorithm updates is to give the searchers the most relevant result to their searches. Still, other site owners thought it brought them a stumbling block by deranking their sites. Well, let see what Penguin and Panda really did, shall we?

Meet and Greet Google Panda

Panda was originally designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites, those sites that doesn't contain relevant information and whose contents are copied from other sources. However, it increases the rankings on the sites that contain original content. Google loves words and it still does. The more unique your contents are and the more useful it is in searches, the more will Google trust that your site contains senseful information.

Last Panda strike has been implemented last December 2012.

Meet and Greet Google Penguin

With the rise of unnatural links flagging around the web to build links to certain sites, Google Penguin just gives a halt for you. Penguin's implementation was to derank sites that are violating SEO guidelines, primarily those who practice black-hat SEO. Manipulating search engine rankings through spams and keyword stuffing is a big NO-NO in SEO.

Last update of Penguin has been October 2012.

If your site have good quality contents and you are sure that you only engage in white-hat SEO techniques then Panda and Penguin might just be your greatest heroes. But if you are doing the dirty trick then you better have to consider Panda and Penguin your enemies.
